Semantic Search for Orthodox Patristic Texts

Paterika is a Greek digital library and research interface for Orthodox patristic, biblical, and synodal texts. It connects natural-language questions with semantically relevant primary passages.

Semantic and lexical retrieval

Semantic search finds conceptually related passages, while lexical search locates known words and phrases. Filters can narrow results by corpus, author, work, and the available authenticity category.

Optional RAG synthesis

After passages have been retrieved, an optional language-model step can produce a concise presentation grounded in those passages and linked to its supporting citations.

Primary-source grounding

Retrieved passages remain visible so readers can inspect the original material and open its work. The platform also connects biblical verses to recorded patristic references. AI-generated presentations are auxiliary reading aids; they do not replace the source text.
